Exothermic Welding

Uni-Weld graphite moulds, weld powder and tool kits — permanent molecular connections for earthing conductors.

The Uni-Weld exothermic welding system joins copper conductors, busbar, earth rods and rebar with a welded bond that will not loosen, corrode or increase in resistance over time. Moulds are catalogued in 27 joint types, with weld powder charges from 45g to 250g.

The Uni-Weld Exothermic Welding Range

Everything needed to make exothermic welded connections on site — graphite moulds for every standard joint, weld powder, handling clamps and the welding tool kit.

Exothermic welding makes the highest-integrity joint in an earthing system. The conductors are placed in a graphite mould, a measured charge of weld powder is added and ignited, and the reaction produces molten copper that fuses the conductors into a single molecular bond — with a current-carrying capacity at least equal to the conductor itself, and no mechanical interface to loosen or corrode.

The Uni-Weld range covers the joints used across earthing and lightning protection installations: busbar to busbar, cable to cable, cable to earth rod, cable to busbar, rod to busbar and cable to rebar. Each joint type is identified by its code — quote the code, with your conductor sizes, when you enquire so the correct mould and powder charge can be supplied.

Mould Joint Types

Uni-Weld graphite moulds are made to order for the joint being welded. Select the joint type for the conductors being connected — the mould is supplied to suit your conductor sizes, together with the matching weld powder charge.
